The name Yukiwakamaru was chosen to symbolize the powerful appearance of the rice plant and the masculine size of the grains, as well as the whiteness and luster of the snow that characterizes the snowy region of Yamagata. The appearance and taste of this rice are characterized by its firm grains, outstanding whiteness and luster, and its new texture, which gives it a springy feel.
It cooks well, and each grain stands up firmly and has a good bite. It is less sweet and sticky than Tsuyahime, but it is very popular with people who like chewy rice.
