Through its Brewers Coalition series, Virginia Distillery Co. puts the spotlight on beer barrels from popular breweries in this case, to superb effect. Secondary maturation in gingerbread stout casks has imbued this with scents of sweet cereal grain, baking spices, ginger, cocoa, and pear. The palate is well-spiced and mouthwatering with cinnamon, vanilla frosting, and berries; the finish turns darker while deliciously trailing off to dark chocolate and honey.
