At the height of ripeness these local delicacies (discovered growing wild on Orcas in the 1970s) cook beautifully into a rosy preserve, with notes of ginger from their fresh kitchen garden grown bay leaves.

A sweet little treasure of Orcas’ agricultural history, these pears are the perfect example of a ‘roadside’ tree adapting itself perfectly to the island climate. Girl Meets Dirt is proud to be stewards of this delicious pear’s future.

Highly versatile, this preserve is a gorgeous topping to panna cotta and cheesecake, and adds a sweet, lightly herbal note to cheese pairings. You’ll adore it with soft-ripened Goat cheese or slathered between a wedge of brie, wrapped in puff pastry, and baked. But dont be afraid to get crazy and deglaze a pork chop with it too.

They farm and grow many fruits organically and use Fair Trade unrefined organic cane sugar. Outsourced fruits and vegetables are sourced locally and from small farms.
