Native to the Mediterranean, Artichokes are the striking, immature flower buds of a perennial in the sunflower family. 100% of those grown in the U.S. come from California, where cool summers and mild winters create the ideal environment for them to thrive.

They are delicious when steamed, boiled, microwaved and even grilled, and are commonly served with creamy dips and sauces.

Melissas Organic Artichokes are a soft green color with some purple tones toward the base. When boiled or steamed, artichokes have a soft, buttery sweetness. Melissas Organic Artichokes are grown naturally fresh and juicy without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.

Melissas Organic Artichokes are hand-selected for excellent quality. Store in refrigerator wrapped in plastic for up to five days. Choose artichokes with deep green coloring and full, compact heads that are heavy for their size.

To help prevent artichokes from darkening during preparation or cooking, use stainless steel utensils and pans.
